News September 2024

If you are considering completing the Sacrament of Confirmation, you can still register with me personally, by phone, or by email. During the vacation, we experienced sound failures during the online broadcasts of the worship services. This issue was related to the reconstruction of the sound system in St. Family Church. Please, if you encounter such failures, inform me by email at the address provided in the contacts.

In the week from September 1, the worship services will follow the regular schedule. There will not be an online Bible study on Tuesday. On Thursday at 7 PM, we will meet at the Club to discuss Scripture and the topic. Friday is the first of the month, and there will be Eucharistic adoration at St. Family Church starting at 5 PM. On Saturday, there is an opportunity to participate in a walking pilgrimage to Hájek, where there will be a Holy Mass with the nuncio at 10:30 AM on the occasion of the main Hájek pilgrimage. Departure from St. Family Church will be at 8:00 AM, and we will join the pilgrims starting their journey at Malovanka by the first Hájek chapel. A flyer regarding the walking pilgrimage and the main Hájek pilgrimage is attached to this article. On Sunday after the Holy Mass, there will be parish coffee. Please bring some refreshments; thank you in advance.

In the week from September 8, there will be an online catechism class on Tuesday. Every Thursday after the Holy Mass at the Club, there will be preparation sessions for catechumens and confirmandi, and other interested parties are welcome. Registration sheets for religious education are available in the church lobbies.

In the week from September 15, there will be an online Bible study on Tuesday. Next Sunday at 10:30 AM, Antonín Voborský will be baptized at St. Martin's Church. I remind you about the registration sheets for religious education in the church lobbies. I also remind you about the preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, which takes place every Thursday after the Holy Mass in the Club premises. Registration can be done in the sacristy or by email to the pastor's address.

In the week from September 22, we invite you to St. Family Church on Tuesday at 7:30 PM for prayer with Taizé songs. On Tuesday at 8:30 PM, there will be an online catechism class. Next Sunday (September 29), there will be an extraordinary collection for people affected by floods; the bishops are sending a letter regarding this, which is attached to this article.

Other invites:

First of all, I invite you to the parish picnic that will take place on Sunday, September 22, starting at 3 PM in the garden of the Home. From 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, the picnic will be informally followed by a meeting with ornithologist Jaroslav Cepák, who will also demonstrate bird trapping. The flyer is attached to the article.

On Thursday, October 3, we will be visited by P. Angelo Scarano, who will give a lecture on "How to Read Scripture Effectively" after the Holy Mass at St. Family Church at 6:45 PM.

On Sunday, October 6, after the Holy Mass at 10:00 AM, we offer the opportunity to watch the theatrical performance "František the Madman." More information can be found again in the attached flyer.

On Saturday, October 19, there will be a large meeting for children with the Archbishop in our cathedral – the so-called PILGRIMAGE OF FIRST COMMUNICANTS. It is primarily intended for those who have started receiving the Eucharist in recent years, but all children from elementary schools and preschoolers are invited as well. It is necessary to register in advance for the pilgrimage; the link for registration and further information can be found here.

I am happy to convey an invitation for young people to Medjugorje. More information about the pilgrimage with P. Angelo Scarano can be found here. The flyer for the pilgrimage is attached to the article.

In the attachment of the article, I offer you two pastoral letters to read: the first one is dedicated to the Holy Year 2025, and the second one is for the beginning of the school year by Jan Graubner, read during the worship on September 15.

I wish you all a blessed September, and to the students and teachers, I wish the help of the Holy Spirit.

Řehoř J. Žáček.
